Before you spend thousand of dollars and years of your life at film school you need to research your other options. Yes, there are other options and alternatives to film school. Films schools are in the business if making money. Therefore they play off the idea that the public thinks that in order to be a successful film maker, you have to go to school. This just is not true. Don’t be fooled by the film school myth.
If you want to be success with anything in life you need to have passion, talent and drive. The same is true with filmmaking. There are a number of great programs that can teach you everything you ever needed to know about making movies and being successful at it. They can even teach you about the legal documents you need to have. These are available at a fraction of the price of film school. Taking a couple of film classes to be certain this is truly what you want to do is always a good idea, but don’t fall for the hype of film school. If you are truly interested in making films, before you waste precious time and money check out your other options. You just might find something much more beneficial.
